Daily Word

And they gave forth their lots; and the lot fell upon Matthias.” — Acts 1:26

We live in a time when we need to be precise in spiritual decisions.  The days of rolling the dice, flipping a coin, and guessing what to do are over in your life.  The disciples cast lots to make spiritual decisions because the "Decision-Maker" had not yet been sent.  They were living in a pre-Holy Ghost dispensation and luck was the best they had.  Now we have the Leader, the Helper, the Decision-Maker!  Expect Him to lead you today!

As they ministered to the Lord, and fasted, the Holy Ghost said, Separate me Barnabas and Saul for the work whereunto I have called them. — Acts 13:2

Most decisions that you will make as a Christian are already laid out for you in the Word of God.  Each decision to pray, read the Word, tithe, love, and speak good things is firmly supported in the Word, but there are other decisions you need to make that are not specifically in the Word.  Whom should I marry?  Where should I live?  These are decisions that must be made in your spirit by the Holy Spirit.  A wrong decision could change your life forever.  Don't be in a hurry at decision time, but be still and listen for the Holy Ghost.  He will lead you in the right choice–-always!

The Spirit itself beareth witness with our spirit, that we are the children of God: — Romans 8:16

When you got born again, God took the dice out of your hand and put the Holy Ghost in your heart.  He is in there to lead you and guide you in the right choices.  Many people choose to be led by their head and end up in a mess.  The Spirit of God will witness with your spirit on a decision, not with your head.  You will have the peace that passes all understanding in your heart, even though your head may be arguing with your decision.  Trust the inner witness and not the natural evidence, and the Holy Ghost will take you where you need to go.

…And it is the Spirit that beareth witness, because the spirit is truth.  For there are three that bear record in heaven, the Father, the Word, and the Holy Ghost:  and these three are one. — I John 5:6b, 7

A son of God is not a gambler, but a person who is led by the Spirit of God.  A son is a person who has trained his spirit to hear the voice of the Holy Spirit.  He has become acquainted with the Word of God so that his decisions are always in line with God’s will.  God’s words are God’s thoughts put on paper.  When His thoughts become your thoughts, His ways will become your ways.  The Word will become a lamp unto your feet and a light unto your path--in every decision.
